05/12/2017: Celebrating 30 years in aquaculture

The anniversary of Alimentsa was a ceremony attended by more than 400 people - including customers, suppliers, opinion leaders in the industry, including the Vice Minister of Aquaculture in Ecuador

In an atmosphere of celebration, the stories of BioMar and Alimentsa were woven together, in an alliance towards a shared future that represents the new chapter for Alimentsa.

The guests passed through a tunnel when they arrived at the event in which they played a video about the development of Alimentsa from its beginning in the young shrimp industry of Ecuador to its alliance with the BioMar Group.

In the main area of the event, the stories of these companies were linked, representing the shared dedication to shrimp farming in Latin America. All the guests attended a formal dinner with various speeches including: Javier Cardoso, Vice Minister of Aquaculture of Ecuador, Carlos Diaz, CEO of the BioMar Group, Alex Olsen, Former President of Alimentsa and Danny Velez, General Manager of Alimentsa.

The speakers talked about aquaculture innovations, such as the ATC research centre in Ecuador (Aquaculture Technology Center or Aquaculture Technology Center), the next-generation centre to be built in Ecuador in 2018.

Carlos Díaz, CEO of Grupo BioMar commented, "We strive to ensure that all customers and stakeholders can take advantage of this evening, to gain a solid understanding of how the recent partnership between BioMar and Alimentsa will benefit shrimp farmers in Ecuador, through access to new products and development opportunities and strengthening local agility by having access to global resources within innovation.”

At the event, the BioMar Group was also present with expert leaders such as the global product manager for hatchery, the Technical Director of Central America, the General Director of BioMar Costa Rica, and shrimp specialists. In addition, regional and global functions were represented in the event.

Danny Velez, General Manager of Alimentsa concluded, "It was an incredible night, I am excited by the interest of the customers when talking about the new partnership between Alimentsa and BioMar.”
