A $200,000 grant has been awarded to South Australian hydroponic herb grower Holla-Fresh to upgrade their facility with a new, state of the art glasshouse.
A $200,000 grant has been awarded to South Australian hydroponic herb grower Holla-Fresh to upgrade their facility with a new, state of the art glasshouse.
Holla-Fresh, based in Tantanoola, around 400km south of Adelaide, estimates the upgrade will create 12 new jobs over the next three years, and a further six from 2017-20.
1.6 hectares of land will be developed for the glasshouse, which will incorporate their automated growing system, as well specialised propagation and pest control areas.
Regional Development Minister Geoff Brock said he had been impressed with the family owned company, which supplies major supermarkets Woolworths, Coles and IGA across the country.
"I recently visited Holla-Fresh and was impressed by the quality of the existing facilities and the enormous potential for further company growth with investment in infrastructure on the site," Minister Brock said.
"The project will not only provide significant job security for existing employees, but will also create new job opportunities and new partnerships along the supply chain as it works with local businesses to provide labour and materials.
The grant is part of the South Australian Government's Regional Development Fund, which has recently been increased to $15 million annually.
