02/01/14: GAA collaborates with Chinese food operator; aquaculture development in Sri Lanka; shrimp safety

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with  Wuhan Lanesync Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd., in order to cross-promote both organisations’ activities and the advancement of responsible aquaculture.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), a confederation of trade associations in Sri Lanka recently partnered with AB Partners AS as part of the Sri Lanka-Norway Business Matchmaking Program (BMMP).

Last week, the partnership held a workshop focusing on the future developments of the country's aquaculture sector.

What's the best way to protect your shrimp farm from criminals?  Panic buttons.

At least, that's what shrimp producers in the coastal province of El Oro, Ecuador will soon be using.

Proposed by the unions of the province, the panic button will act as a warning tool. In order to use it, those in the shrimp sector must fill out a registration database that allows access to immediate police in the event that a criminal act is committed.
